If you’re looking to learn how to get rid of acne, then I have the perfect solution for you. This is my own home made facial acne treatment has been so useful and effective for me that I have been trying to tell everyone about it. Although I’m a true believer that beauty starts on the inside, I have to admit that I saw faster results getting rid of acne with my home made acne facial treatment than anything else.
So whenever I do start my anti-acne regimen, I always refer to the day I do the facial cleansing. Starting at this step, it takes about 1 week for me to clear up.
In a nutshell, what I do is steam my face for approximately 10 minutes, then I gently wash face with baking soda and finally I apply a half ACV/half water solution on my face as a toner, then I go to sleep. This gets rid of pimples so fast you’ll be wondering why you haven’t done this before.
Steaming for Acne, the Process
- Boil water in a tea kettle or pot, whichever. When the water is boiling, put it in a plastic container that’s as big as your head and shallow… think a Tupperware container that’s long and shallow.
- Quickly put salt in the water, put a tower covering your head and the plastic container (so steam doesn’t get out) and then let the steam rise to your face for 10 minutes. The salt is to lower the boiling point and cause more steam… so you can use table salt, it doesn’t make a difference. WARNING, DO NOT TOUCH THE BOILING WATER WITH YOUR FACE! I shouldn’t even have to say that… but I felt I should. Don’t get too close to the water so it hurts. EXTRA tips: sit down when you do this, use straws to breathe if the steam is too much to breath in, play a bit of music in the background (after about 3 tracks you’re done usually since most songs are like 3-4 minutes long.
baking soda - Run to bathroom, splash a bit of water on your face (not freezing, but something to refresh your face a bit) JUST A BIT, DONT OVERDO THIS. One or two splashes!
- Put baking powder in a bowl and put a bit of water (I use bottled water because tap water has toxins and I don’t want those on my face) JUST put a bit of water, the trick is to have the powder wet so you can put it on your face. Usually I actually prepare this BEFORE steaming. Then very GENTLY rub/massage your face with the baking powder. This should be done right after your splash when your skin is still warm and pores are open. This cleans off all the ‘bad’ stuff that’s been released by steaming. However, it’s basic and that’s not great for the skin.
- Rinse off the baking powder!
- Mix half ACV & half bottled water (I also prepare this before steaming)and apply it all over your face. This is a very good toner for me, I let this dry and then go to sleep! I find it has a tiny odor so I only put this on at night, but my skin loves this.
That’s it!
How long does it take to get rid of acne?
The next day you can EXPECT to have 1-2 smaller pimples come out, whatever, it’s stuff that was going to come out anyways, you just made it come out faster. The amazing thing is that the day AFTER that it gets much better, and the day AFTER that your skin looks amazing. All because of the home made facial acne treatment. I still remember learning about how to get rid of acne, trying everything that seemed like it could work. Out of all the treatments I’ve tried, this is by far the best thing!
what dose hcv mean?i will try this idea and let you no how i get on,thanks
There’s no HVC, it’s AVC which is Apple Cider Vinegar
Alright let me make sure I’m getting this right. You steam your face, and put baking soda on that night, then you go to sleep. Now you don’t do it again the next night correct? Your only doing this steaming process one night per week? Just trying to make sure I understand this.
I’m sorry – is it Baking Soda or Baking Powder? It appeared that you’ve mentioned Baking Soda in some place, and Baking Powder in others? Thanks
PLEASE!Help Danny and me out here! Do you only do this stuff once a week? I started tonight, so I am not going to do it again tomorrow unless I’m told otherwise. By the way, I have dry skin, and my face is pretty dried out right now.
Hello, sorry for the delayed response!
Yes, you want to do this only once a week. It usually takes TWO FULL days after the steam before you start seeing results.
However, they are worth it, seriously.
Feebs: Steaming is perfectly fine if you have dry skin, just make sure you scrub VERY gently (and don’t leave the baking soda on for too long)
So… It’s baking soda? Do you wash your face other times during the week or is this all you do?
is the acv important?
This sounds like something I want to try. Yes, apple cider vinegar is important. I know drinking ACV is wonderful for your health and acne. I even read that it’s good for people suffering with thinning hair.
Thanks for your information.
Hey eric i was just wondering. I have been using an antibiotic called doxycycline. My doctor says you have to wait three months for your results. Is this true or not. Another thing, I noticed masturbating causes acne even though it relieves stress. I think it messes with the hormones or something. Please reply ASAP.
Thanks
Hi Eric,
Is it ok to moisturise afterwards and maybe even put on a acne gel my beautician gave me after the whole process ie… Steaming then Baking Soda, ACV then Treatment Gel and then Moisturiser?
The treatment my beutician prescribed me is the Ultraceuticals Acne Gel comprising of retinol, AHA, BHA and tea tree to smooth and un-clog oily & acne-prone problem skins.
• Retinol, lactic compound and BHA (salicylic acid) exfoliate and improve the appearance of clogged skin
• pH 4.0 for AHA and BHA penetration and effectiveness
Key Ingredients: Retinol (vitamin A) 0.15%, Salicylic acid 2%, Lactic compound 10%, Tea tree oil, Green Tea extract.
I am excited to give this a try.
Just wondering though: you mention doing this only once a week. How do you cleanse/treat your face on other nights? I don’t much like the idea of going to bed without having washed my face.
Please let me know!
hi eric! im so thankful i got to find your website, its really very informative and interesting, and helpful without ever thinking of “product advertisement” but rather pure helpful tips. learned a lot, thanks! i only have some questions i hope you will find the time to answer. is it fine to do the steaming every nite, and use my old regimen for acne (Bodyshop tea tree line) after the baking soda-acv procedure? or can i do your procedure atleast every 2 days? i hope you can give me the answer soon. thanks so much again and God Bless.
I was just wondering, when you say baking powder, did you mean baking soda? You also said something about a tower over your head, so… if i’m thinking staight, I know you don’t mean something flat over my head, so something that just covers? Or can we just put our face over the steam, without any cover?
One more thing, what can we do later in the weak after we steam? We can still wash regularly with plain water, right?
Thanks, from yours truly.
does it matter if i use baking soda or baking powder???
