Acne during the day

If your acne pimples start flaring up during the day, you might have a few additional clues to decypher the root of your acne.

Day acne

The most prominent reason for acne flare-ups during the day seems to be stress. In many cases, it is internal stress and worries which seem to trigger the acne. Now your body might be stressed for a variety of reasons which include a lack of sleep, worrying about a dentist appointment, an exam, etc.

The solution to this, get more sleep! Sleep helps a lot with stress as it regulates all the functions in your body and resets your biological clock. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep is highly recommended. Another tip is to take supplements of Vitamin C, Magnesium/Calcium (to be taken together). These supplements help your body cope with stress and will make you more resilient. Finally, the most important and obvious way to deal with stress is to get to the root of what is causing it and fixing it! Your mind is much stronger than any supplement.

Sugar overload

Sugar, the only food capable of reacting fast enough to produce acne flare-ups. For some people sugar has a very small effect so its quite difficult to judge. However, in my personal experience, I've realized that if I binged on cookies and ice cream at say... 2pm, I could very possibly get a small pimple at 9pm. The obvious solution to this is to avoid bad sugar (which is basically all sugar EXCEPT for the natural sugar found in fruit)

Contact acne

Touching your face? Touching your face throughout the day seems to promote acne in those specific spots. The additional bacteria provided by your fingers, combined with the oily and acne prone skin surface create the ideal conditions for a pimple to flare up during the day.

The solution? Avoid touching your face and wash your hands more often. Unless you're doing extreme yoga, in which case you might need to wash your feet more often as well.

Hormonal disbalance, indigestion, etc

All the rest

It is much more complicated to diagnose acne flare-ups throughout the day because it can be caused by so many things. If you don't suspect that your primary trigger is stress, sugar or contact, please read the ebook which covers the various other causes and solutions
